If you are charged with a crime and are arrested,
you will be brought before a magistrate (a judge
who does procedural duties), and he or she will
set bond. This initial bond amount is based solely
on what the police are saying about you and your
record, and usually applied to a bond amount schedule.
This is the amount you or a bondsman will have
to put up before the jail will release you pending
trial. Sometimes, this bond amount is too high
given the true facts of the case and your standing
and ties to the community. If you or your loved
